You'll contribute to ending world hunger by ...

Assisting the Program Manager in planning, managing coordinating and implementing all the Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation activities of partner Local Government Units and communities in Surigao Del Sur or Compostella Valley. To take lead in the implementation of Key Results of Action Against Hunger in selected Provincial, Municipal and Barangay partners.

Key activities in your role will include

Objective 1: To act as focal person in managing, coordinating and implementing all activities to LGU and community partners specific to Action Against Hunger results

  • Lead in the implementation of Action Against Hunger results under the Convenio project to assigned project areas;
  • Lead in coordination with local partners (municipalities and barangays) and other stakeholders and ensure timely implementation of the planned activities in coordination with the Program Manager
  • Support the Program Manager in the development and/or review and conduct of capacity building modules related to PCVA, Contingency Planning, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), livelihood resilience; micro-insurance and other technical trainings and orientations among LGU and community partners
  • Lead in facilitating the review of the Local DRRM plan and ensure that Action Against Hunger sectors is integrate and adapted
  • Support Consortium level advocacy initiatives related to DRR and climate change;
  • Provide inputs on the standardization of Evacuation Center structure or design
  • Any other task required to achieve the project objective

Objective 2: Reporting

  • Prepare weekly and monthly plans and update/progress reports on achievements
  • Contribute in the donor interim and final reports and submit following the Mission Reporting System
  • Develop and maintain database of photos, videos and other multimedia documents related to the project
  • Contribute in preparing meeting minutes including project team monthly meeting, DRR training proceedings and other reports reqeuested by the Program Manager
  • Assist the Program Manager in capitalization of the experience in the DRR activities of the project

Objective 3: Participate in seminars, conferences, activities related with DRR and climate change

  • Under proper authorization, represent Action Against Hunger and actively participate in DRR-related events in project areas or elsewhere
  • Actively search for local capacities with potential to give and add value to the project (NGO, institutions, universities, etc.

Do you meet the profile required criteria?

  • A degree in social science, environmental science, natural resource management, or other related discipline;
  • At least 2 years experience in Community Organizing with DRR
  • Essential knowledge and understanding of RA 10121 and Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction

    • A team player/builder with strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and able to perform under pressure
    • Good presentation and communication skills for a number of different audiences
    • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • To be based in designated City of operation;
